¡Hola a todos¡ My name is Rishi Upadhyay, and welcome to the first podcast! The Hispanic Initiatives is a Sub-committee of the Stanford Network for K-12 Neurodiversity Education and Advocacy (NNEA). As Founder of the Hispanic Initiatives, I would like to introduce Alina, Nyshita, and Allan. We are high school students who are dedicated to advocate for neurodiversity and neurological differences in the Hispanic community. This is the second year of the Hispanic Initiatives subcommittee, and we are excited to share with you strength-based approach to neurodiversity. Throughout the podcast, we will cover topics such as neurodiversity advocacy, the stigmas neurodivergent individuals face, and how special education affects neurodivergent individuals!

Neurodiversity is the idea that differences in our brains are part of normal variation in the human population. Neurodiversity advocacy focuses on advocating for this principle and promoting inclusion in all spaces. One of the main missions of neurodiversity advocates is to debunk various stigmas.

These persistent social stigmas affect the way people live their lives every day. Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other conditions are frequently the target of discrimination and misunderstanding. These prejudices have the potential to create hurdles that obstruct social integration, career opportunities, and academic success. It is crucial to eliminate these stigmas and create a setting that values and embraces cognitive diversity if we are to make progress towards a more inclusive society. Thank you for tuning in today, and we’ll see you at the next podcast!
